The game time and venues have changed due to closure of grounds at St Gregory’s. Please see your coaches for further information. All details will be e-mailed to all players as soon as we are aware of the arrangements.

2 BMGS teams to the Semi Finals

The ISA Rugby Union semi-finals are on this Saturday 20/8/11 at St Gregory’s College (100 Badgally Road, Campbelltown) and congratulations go to our Under 15′s and 1st XV for reaching this stage of the competition.
Under 15′s commence at 12:30pm.
1st XV at 3pm.
This is a great opportunity to support the players and coaches who have worked very hard to reach the finals.

Further details will be posted about transport to the game

Game Reports for CCGS games

It was a beautiful day at Wentworth Falls this Saturday and the Under 13′s took the field with enthusiasm. It was clear from the beginning that Central Coast had built a very strong team that included fast back and strong forwards. There were a series of CCGS tries in the first half and BMGS needed to re-group. The start of the second half involved improved tackling and running from BMGS, however they was not able to convert their efforts to points and Central Coast won very convincingly. Tackle of the day to Cooper K.
On another note, last week Joshua S. scored one of the tries. Well done Joshua.
The under 13′s are to be congratulated for their determination and positive approach. Their final competition round next week is a great opportunity to enjoy some more rugby.

The under 15s played a very strong game against Central Coast Grammar, who were hungry for a victory despite being only able to field 12 players. Initially the game saw points being scored by both teams. CCGS were fighting hard to win the ball at each breakdown, which could have been devastating were it not for the strong defence of the team, led by James Shakeshaft who was impeccable in securing the blind side. The free running backs of the U15s were able to capitalise on the opportunities they received. Tom Farnell opened the scoring for BMGS after chasing a well positioned kick deep into CCGS territory and Ryan Nichols scored from a line out after great urgency in cleaning up a loose ball. At half time there was no clear margin between the teams. However, the second half saw a greater urgency among the forwards to win the contest at the breakdown. Angus Airth was quick to become involved in the game, leading the chase from kick off and was the unanimous winner of the Century 21 Tackle of the Day award for his commitment to stopping the very largest of CCGS’s forwards. Tryscorers included Tom Tziavarus, who continues to bamboozle defenders with his Academy Award winning dummy, Harrison Negrone,who showed vision to support Tom Farnell following a line break, and a great forwards try following James Hodge’s barnstorming run. An outstanding win which should keep the finals hopes of the under 15s alive. BMGS 36 CCGS 19

The Under 16′s came up against a well drilled and strong CCGS team. Whilst Central Coast had the majority of the possession in the first half, Blue Mountains scrambled well in defence to keep the score to 10-0 at half time. Unfortunately, we were not able to turn the tables in the second half as Central Coast ran in a few more try’s.
