About BMGS Rugby

Vs Aldergrove Baa Baa's 2010
Blue Mountains Grammar School is a co-educational, Anglican day school located in the Blue Mountains at Wentworth Falls.
The school fields 5 rugby union teams (U/13’s to Opens) in the Independent Schools Association Winter Competition in Division 2. We also play against local schools as well as entering teams in both local competitions (when it doesnt clash with ISA commitments) and specialist competitions eg 10-a-side.
Risk Minimisation
We manage risk by:
• Getting the boys fit to play
• Selecting them for positions that suit their build and/or ability
• Ensuring they wear correct protective equipment
• Effective coaching
•Accredited referees

Our Code of Behaviour
Spectators are welcome and encouraged at all games and indeed add to the atmosphere.
Please note that the school does have a Code of Behaviour for parents and spectators (available on the
BMGS website) and we encourage you to read it.
We believe that Rugby builds character
One of the great strengths of modern schoolboy rugby is the need for participants to be brave (this
bravery may well have started when they asked you if they could play!).
A significant distinction between rugby and other team sports is that your sons will need courage to overcome the fear of playing against bigger opponents, to get that ball out of the ruck and to tackle an opposition player.
There are going to be times when a player’s courage is tested and challenged.
How they deal with these tests and challenges will be character defining.
It is up to us as coaches and you as parents to ensure that we work together in this.
Character and skills will build over time – it won’t necessarily be there on show from day one.
